Apex Friendship High School Chorus, in Apex, NC, is a community of students, parents/guardians, teachers, and audience members that come together through choral music performance. AFHS Chorus enables students to find a place of belonging, make long-lasting friendships, and build core musicianship skills through a tradition of excellence in choral music.

Meet your director
Sam Wanamaker is thrilled to be the Choral Director at Apex Friendship High School! He was born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He graduated with honor cum laude from Appalachian State University with a major in Choral Music Education. Professionally, Mr. Wanamaker has performed as a soloist with the North Carolina Symphony and the North Carolina Master Chorale.Mr. Wanamaker has conducted and performed throughout the United States and Europe in Concert Halls and Cathedrals. As a music educator, started his work right here in Apex for his internship at Apex High School with Heather Copley. He then moved to Garner and taught there for five years before teaching choral music and IB music at an International School in Xi'An, China. This year marks Mr. Wanamaker's seventh year of teaching and is happy to do so at Apex Friendship High School in North Carolina. "I feel like I have won the lottery... Teaching these incredible students in this community makes me believe even further that teaching choral music is my greatest joy, and I am proud to foster that joy at AFHS."
Singing Patriots
9th-12th grade Singing Patriots is a choir of mostly male students of Beginning-Advanced level. No audition necessary for the beginning/intermediate level. Honors credit is available. 2 semesters (Fall and Spring) serve as a prerequisite to audition for honors credit. We sing EVERYTHING!

Friendship Singers
9-12th grade Friendship Singers is a choir of mostly women of Beginning and Intermediate level singers. No audition necessary! 2 semesters (Fall and Spring) serve as a prerequisite to audition for the honors credit class, Harmonics.

Harmonics
10th-12th grade Harmonics is a choir of mostly of Proficient/Advanced level that receives honors credit. This course receives honors credit and has a prerequisite of 2 semesters of chorus from either Friendship Singers.

Peak Ensembles Community Concert
All Apex Middle and High Schools work together in a Community Outreach Concert. This year it will be March 6th, 2023!
